Travel faqs

Do I need a visa to travel to India?

Most foreigners need a visa to travel to India. India now offers e-visa to many nationalities (incl. UK/USA/Singapore), please check with your travel agent or the appropriate website to see if you need one.

To apply for an e-visa, visit the link below:

https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa/tvoa.html

For Nigerians/other nationalities not on the e-visa list,  visit the link below:

https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/

For those who need a sponsorship letter for their visa application - please contact our wedding planners, Mallika and Tulika, by emailing them at shrutisayowedding@gmail.com.

Should I be taking any medical precautions or vaccinations before traveling to India?

All travelers should preferably be fully vaccinated as per the approved primary schedule of vaccination against Covid-19 in their country. Please check the Government of India’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare website closer to the time of travel to see if a PCR test is needed.

The Indian government asks for proof of yellow fever vaccinations for travelers entering India from regions regarded as having high risk of yellow fever transmission or those who have recently visited such areas. Please check this link to see if you come from one such country.

Please refer to your country’s travel advisory and other appropriate websites for further information.

What should I watch out for when traveling in India?

Traveling in India is safe but here are a few things to look out for.

Eating/ Drinking- We have got you covered during the wedding but when traveling otherwise, please make sure to drink only bottled water and avoid raw foods ( aka no salads) .

Dress - While at the wedding, you can dress however you like. When traveling around India, just like you would do in any other country, please respect cultural norms of the country.

Nights out - Indian cities have some great nightlife but a solo night out in India is never a good idea. It’s always better to have someone with you when you go out.

Accommodation faqs

How can I book hotel accommodation?

We have negotiated special rates for our guests at Suryagarh for 3 nights stay. There are links provided for you to request bookings in the ‘Accommodation’ section of the website. All bookings will have to go through filling the form provided and our wedding planners. Please do not book through the hotel directly for those 3 nights.

Please book early as rooms will fill up quickly.

Can I book more or less than 3 nights at Suryagarh?

If you want to stay for more than 3 nights, you can! In this case, you can book using our link for the 3 nights and make arrangements with the hotel directly for the extra nights. Room availability and price for the extra nights are subject to the hotel.

Booking less than 3 nights, however, is not possible.

Are there extra charges for more than 2 people in a room?

Each room’s price is set to accommodate 2 adults. There is no extra charge for kids under the age of 8. The hotel allows an extra bed with an additional charge only in certain room categories.

What happens if the type of room I’ve requested is already full?

Unfortunately, if the room type you have requested for is already full, you will have to choose from the categories that are still available.

If your desired rooms open up at a later date due to cancellations, we will go down the original request list and reach out to those people and ask if they want to change their booking.

How do I pay for hotel accommodation?

As per hotel policy for weddings:

After you put in a reservation request through the Accommodation page, we will email you with a confirmation and collect your payment details to process the 50% deposit to lock the down the room.  Full refund of the 50% deposit is available upon cancellation until August 31, 2023.

The remaining 50% will be charged on September 1, 2023. No refund is available after that date.

While we don’t see any need for room service as all meals (breakfast, lunch, tea, dinner) are a part of the wedding plans, if you choose to request room service, mini bar, laundry, or spa services, these will be charged to your card at check out.

What is the cancellation policy?

As per hotel policy for weddings:

Cancellations with a refund of the 50% deposit is allowed until August 31, 2023.

The remaining 50% will be charged on September 1, 2023 after which no refunds are possible.

Can I stay in a hotel that’s not Suryagarh?

We want this wedding to be about everyone spending time together even outside of the events so we would like all of you to stay in Suryagarh.

Should I bring a swimsuit?

Yes! The hotels have beautiful pools and there will be time for everyone to lounge by the water.

other faqs

Is there a dress code for the wedding?

Yes there is! Please refer to the ‘Events’ section of the website for details. We will also be sending out a wardrobe planner in the coming weeks that outlines the dress code for each event.

We would like people to participate in the Indian and Nigerian cultural elements of the wedding as much as possible and would love for you to be dressed accordingly, but don’t stress out too much.
